Making Waves in 17/18
20/2/19
LI: To swim through the waves without standing, and get to the other side.
What did we do?
In Rm 17/18, we followed the instructions of a lady who came in and taught us about rips and currents. (Her name was Kate) The picture above is of us swinging in and out on the sides of the pool while some of us swam through it. It was really hard! The idea was to get us used to the ocean and how it felt to be In the ocean with no boat and a rip. We were not meant to touch the bottom but I did once. The last swimming session, we did a competition where you had to stay afloat on your back. Me and a group of other people lasted the longest.
Why did we do it?
we did this exersize so that we knew what it was like to be in the ocean facing a rip or current. And with 55 other kids making the waves made it feel just like the sea! As you can see in the picture we moved up as more people went through the middle.
What other things did Kate teach us?
She made us do a competition where we lay on our backs and the people who floated for the longest won. I think this was because if we get washed out to sea then we can float on our backs and get our breath back. It was hard because there were just SO MANY people in the pool!
