Before the Hungi
 |
Everyone will eat the Hungi. It's a tradition. Hungi means
"Oven in the ground" and it is filled with potatoes,
Cabbage, Chicken, Carrots and Kumra!
At one point we got to visit the Hungi. Some people
thought it smelled, but I didn't notice a thing.
The only downside to visiting the Hungi is that it was
SUPER muddy, as people had been trekking around there
Since 4:00! I almost wish I saw the fire being lit...
Actually, I'd prefer to be in my bed - Normally I'm not
even conscious at that time! |
 |
This is what It looks like now. It takes
3 hours to cook and can reach
Temperatures of 500 - 700 degrees! |
After the Hungi
The Hungi tasted REALLY good. It was quite a smokey taste, which earned a few dislikes. I really loved it though. The only thing I didn't like was that the people who served the food kept nagging you to take what they were serving. Overall, as my last Hungi at Oratia, I think it was my favourite and hope to share another one soon.
